Surviving Henle Latin (without Losing Your Love for Learning)

I have to start by saying that I love Latin. I am completely, 100%, fully committed to learning Latin and I believe wholeheartedly in all the reasons that classical education insists on Latin.

But I don’t always love Henle Latin. Sometimes I don’t even like it. And I’m not alone. The more time I spend on social media talking to other Classical Conversation directors and parents, the more and more and MORE I hear about parents wanting to quit Latin altogether because Henle is brutal. And that breaks my heart because there is so much beauty to be found in Latin and how it connects to all other subjects. I am hearing about more and more people quitting CC because the joy of learning is gone and a whole lot of finger pointing happens–and they are all pointing at Henle.
